The Willows: Haven ARC Tour ~ Interview & Grand Prize

Posted by Julie, A Tale of Many Reviews on October 6, 2011 in Book Tours, Giveaways, Interviews |

This is the last stop of The Willows: Haven tour. We would like to thank everyone who participated. Today, we have author Hope Collier on the blog and she is graciously giving away an amazing Grand Prize to one lucky reader!

Julie: What has been one of the best/most interesting thing(s) about reading the reviews of Haven?

Hope: I think my favorite thing is hearing about the characters the reader likes, or in some cases, doesn’t like. I love to get people’s thoughts, reactions, and most memorable quotes and moments. I always wonder if the parts of the story that meant the most to me carry across to the reader.

Also, it’s interesting a few people have mentioned being confused by the opening scene. Ashton runs out of the party, and they’re at a loss for why she’s leaving even though she hasn’t learned of her dad’s heart attack. She’s on the phone with Harry, her dad’s best friend, and the call fails. What the reader doesn’t hear is Harry telling Ashton that her dad is on the way to the hospital, and she should come home. The call is breaking up, and Ash can barely hear over the noise of the party, so naturally, she’s a little panicked.

Julie: Ahhh, I knew she was panicked from whatever the call was about, but didn’t know what had actually been said. Thanks for clearing that up. J

What can you tell us about the sequel to Haven? Many have commented they can’t wait for book #2.

Hope: Book two is well under way and so much fun! Everyone will get a deeper look into the mythology surrounding the world where Ashton, Gabe, and the rest live. More questions will be answered from HAVEN, and there will be a few surprises as well. I’m all about the mystery!

Julie: Yes, you are about the mystery! Are you working on any other novels/projects?

Hope: Yes! I actually have several projects in varying stages. I hope to have more on those as they progress, and I have a little better idea how they’ll pan out. One is a ghost story and the other has more of an “earthy” feel.

Julie: Ohhhh, sounds spooky! Speaking of ghost stories, since this is the month of all things spooky and I love Halloween, I’m doing a themed pairing with all authors on the blog this month:

Trick or Treat? I’m a little bit of a prankster, so I’m going to say Trick, but nothing mean or permanent!

Pumpkin carving or Pumpkin painting? My carvings are always jacked up like I did them with my feet … using a paint stirrer. So, pumpkin painting for me.

Vampires or Werewolves? Vampires. There’s something enticing about immortality, isn’t there? I just think it looks better without the fur and drool ;)

Dracula or Frankenstein? The Mummy!

The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown or Friday the 13th? Charlie Brown, hands down. That’s one of my favorites, actually — a tradition even. Not to mention that’s the name of one of my favorite restaurants.

Scary costume or funny costume? A funny costume that’s oddly demented and ends up being scary. I have this wicked awesome Ronald Reagan mask. Completely non-intimidating, yet strangely disturbing.

Ghosts or zombies? Ghosts, please. Give me the Headless Horseman any day of the week. I’ve been terrified of zombies since I was a kid and watched Night of the Comet with my sister.

Spiders or Bats? Bats. Or better yet, Batman ;)

Snickers or Smarties? Snickers.

Black Cat or Black dog? Cat, for the simple fact that we share a similar temperament.

Scary movie or Scary Halloween Ride? Definitely the ride. I don’t like gory movies, but I love the rush of adrenaline.

Thank you Hope for the fabulous book and tour!
